Other Forums?

This isn't meant for advertisement, just for discussions about other forums we visit regularly.

So, what forums do you guys frequent? I like this place. It is really cozy, but of course, it isn't populated as much as a few other places are. When it comes to game discussions, I find VGC is the place I go to the most.

Here's the link for those who are interested:

How about the rest of you guys?

Thanks for the invite, dude, but this is still a young forum. Everything was redone on the boards not to long ago. It needs some people to keep it driving. Once again, thanks for the invite!

Thanks for the invite. It looks like the NES forums there are much more dead than here. We have over 100 posts a day here going now, and it's only been up a month...

As for other forums, they're not NES-related, but I frequent the digitalpoint.com forums, and the ProFox mailing list()...

I used to frequent a lot of Linux/BSD message boards, but now I just hang out in the IRC channel for one. Good bunch of people there.

The forums were recently hacked, so they do appear to be a bit dead. They only just opened back up, so they should get busy again very soon.

Hacked, eh? That really de-moralizes the participants, typically-- I wouldn't expect them all back...

I could see that. People saying, "Well, what's the point?" That would be kind of a drag. Wish you guys luck.

Gee that place looks "familiar" (in colors and design).

It's too bad that you can't log on even after you've registered (what's up with that?).

I think right here is the place to be for solid NES content. There's a few individuals here that really know their stuff.

Ha-- I didn't notice that before... Of course, those forums were up before these, but The NES Files itself has been online since 1998, and according to the copyright on that page, they've been up since 2000. Oh well.

I believe they've been around since 1997, if not a little longer.

That's cool, but what the question is, has it always been the same color scheme?

Yes, I believe so.

I sometimes browse a German Gamecube forum on

It's quite nice there, but in the last time the number of active posters and new posts went down a bit.
I won a prize in a game there (Skies of Arcadia Legends for Gamecube) once.

i just joined this today and ba da ba ba ba im loving it lol

It's really good that you love the site just as we do, but probably there is noo need to write it in different posts over and over again.
(from the "2000 posts" thread)
If you want to write your love towards the site down, you should at least answer or add something new to the thread. Please.

this is where i live now. great place

The forum looks very interesting, but I'm gonna stick here.
It's not so crowded here and I know all the topics.

The eBay contest on that forum sounds cool.

Yeah I like the Digital Press forums but it can get a bit overwhelming sometimes with the amount of traffic in there. Sometimes I see a thread I like, but when I go back a couple of days later it's slipped down so many pages I struggle to find it. I think it would be better if they had separate forums for Nintendo, Sega, Atari, Sony etc. Then you could just check out the stuff you were really interested in, ie Nintendo

One thing DP is definitely good for is the amazing amount of videogame knowledge their members have. This is where the real big collectors hang out. If you have a game question you can't find the answer to anywhere else you can be pretty sure someone there will be able to help you.

Perhaps you should tell them about your idea. Maybe they do you the favour.

Hehe, not sure they'd listen to me seeming as I'm a newbie and all. Their top poster has over 20,000 posts. No, when it comes to NES I think I'll stick here.

If it's a really good forum they also listen to newbies in case they make good adVices.

Most other forums don't want to hear "newbies," as they're called. It seems that most of the people who are veterans on some boards feel threatened by new people. I have no clue why. If those "veterans" are so good at their job, then there should be no worries. It's about spreading knowledge to the community that you are servicing, not who has more stature...

What's the wit about forums without new people?
Some time everybody was new to a forum. Veterand can't be veterans without having been newbies before.
That's why I like this place. Newbies are treated well here.

I just want to point out that they have just been...
HACKED AGAIN!

Anyone up for a little recruiting session?

wow... time to look into some forum security... wipe out old admin accounts and the like... that was a slightly interesting board, but if that happens as often as it seems to it's really not worth joining.

Why do people hack forums?
Just because they are bad people? I hate people who hack things for fun...

Why do people hack forums?
Just because they are bad people? I hate people who hack things for fun...

People hack for lots of reasons. Some to be dicks, some to steal resources, some to steal information, etc.. Those who are trying to steal resources usually try to keep it low-key, so they can steal the bandwidth and such for a longer period... Those who steal information(such as credit card #'s), will likely eventually get caught when they try to use them. The ones that do it just to deface or damage are just "bad people" without enough to do.

Thanks for the interesting info.
I didn't know that you can steal bandwidth.

NES Files
Dragon's Den
C-Island
MLB
POlitical Gateway Index
Alefgard Boards

It's not really a forum, but I like Chris' Survival Horror Quest. I've posted there only a couple of times, (and only recently) but I frequent there a lot.

Tales Forum.

It turned me into what is known as a fanboy.

Hey Star-Tropics, instead of us Googling all over the place, could you maybe give us some links? I'd like to know what a few of those are. Sorry if I seem lazy, but I only have so much time on the net as it is.

Dragon's Den--->
C-Island------>
MLB---->
Political Gateway Index---->
Alefgard Boards------>

You forgot the other one on your list:

NES Files--->

Ha! Nice Daynum!

Thanks Star-Tropics, that'll make things much easier!

Gotta say this place will probably be the only forums on the net where i will post. Not too crowded and not too small. Some good people and good topics. Cant see why id wanna post anywhere else.

I am regular at another forum, but it is not a game forum. It is about acm icpc problem solving.
The address is: acm.uva.es/board

Well I figured I'd bring this topic back to life for some of our newer users (including me).

Anyway the only 2 forums I belong to are:

and
Which is a computer support forum where I'm also greatmightypoo the "Geek in Training".

Every once in a while I'll post on digg and usually get shut down. I'm not enough of a piranha.

segahub.org

i like that place.

I just discovered on Saturday that the spaghetti westerns have a forum at A-Fistful-Of-Leone.com. I'll most likely be joining that one as well. I also belong to the forums at , but haven't posted yet.

I joined a forum called Castle Aensland yesterday. Not a very active forum, but a must if you're a Morrigan/Darkstalkers fan.
Here's the link for anyone who is interested:

I used to post on the , but got tired of that.

Now I post on

and of course here.
