Ninja GaiDen III glitch

In Ninja Gaiden

Since purchasing this game, I've been reminded of a programming error in the game! It's at the beginning of the fourth stage, I believe....

If you look at the background, you can see that the mountains are upside down!!! I always thought this was hilarious!

Mountains upside down?
... Maybe the stage is just located in some weird parallel universe?

Perhaps it's possible you post a screenshot here?

I tried getting to the level with my crappy PC controller, and it's a no go. I'll have to get a better contoller, then I'll post it for you... it's quite funny, actually!

I never realized that before. The last time I playeed NG3 was 4:00am so maybe I never noticed it.

A little story before the posting of the pic...

So when I got my new PC controller, I immediately went to play some emulators to test it out. I usually use NNnesterj for all my emulator needs, such as screenshots, testing games, and the like. So I start the program, open a ROM, and get ready to jam! ... I thought...

For some reason, that emulator won't register the actual d-pad in the controllers dialog box. The analog sticks... yeah... d-pad... no. So I tried NES Games with the analog sticks, but I think we know how this goes. It just doesn't work well for most games (though I'm sure Smash T.V. would work great!).

So I go to my back-up emulator, FCE-Ultra. Awesome part? It registers the d-pad! Sweet! A few days later (today), I pop in the ROM for NG III to get the screen I've been talking about, and finally get to the fourth stage. At this point I'm thinking, "Yes, here we go... time for the shot!" I reach my finger up to hit F12 like I always do for the screenshot, and the program shuts off!!! Immediately, I knew what happened. In the emulator NNnesterj, a screenshot is taken by pressing F12. In FCE Ultra? You guessed it...

It exits the program! Man, I was so mad at myself, I even hurt my forehead when I slapped it two or three times! Ha! So I had to go back through those tough levels to get this. Man, that sucked!

Anyway, here's the pic:

Wow that's dedication how much you went through to get that shot. Thanks! I've gone through that whole changing emulator and hitting the wrong button frustration. Very annoying.

Maybe it's not that the background is upside down, but that everyone on the stage is wearing anti gravity boots?!

I am just curious...

Is the second pic what the programmers intended?

Nah, the trees would be at the bottom of the screen too. Of course, there has to be a reason for this. Are you sure it isn't explained in a cinema why everything is upside down?

That looks weird... what did they intend with that?...

Are these trees or just green clouds?

Well, I've been waiting to watch the cinema screens until I beat it again. But I'll play it later today and see if they say anything. I seem to remember this from when I was younger though (thinking it was weird).

Good job getting that shot. I've got to try finish NG3 again to see that for myself.

I went through and watched the cinema screens (finally), and there is no explanation for the background being like that. I'm not sure why that's like that, but it's a bit strange that they left it like that. Oh well, another unsolved mystery!
