Multi-format games

In Modern Systems

Say you own (as i'm sure some of you do) all three (or maybe 2) of the current consoles - GC, Xbox, PS2 - and a game you want comes out on all three. How do you decide which system to get the game on? Price? Preffered contoller stylings on a certain console?

I'm just curious

Well, controls are usually important. For instance, if I had a PS2, and Xbox, and a Gamecube, and a really cool looking game came out for all three, I would probably buy the GC one, as I like the controller for the GC, (and it needs more games ).

Personally, I would check about variations within the game. for instance, any of the GTA games on the Xbox and PS2.

the Xbox version has much improved graphics, and custom soundtracks.

Most of the time I choose Xbox due to the improved graphics.Although I did get Soul Caliber 2 for all 3 because of the special characters on each.

When I had an Xbox I would always get the multi format games for that. Now it would most probably for the gamecube...I prefer the controller styling and sometimes the games are cheaper for the cube as well.

Well, i don't own any of the current consoles, so in my case, i will use the PSX, N64, ANd DC as my "Current" Consoles
DC-Best Graphics
PSX-Best COntroller
N64-Most fun
N64- wide variety of games
DC-Sonic-
PSX-Sucks

The GC controller feels weird in my hands. I suppose that's because I've held PSX/2 controllers for so long and gotten used to the position of everything. Graphics aren't that different in cross platform games. Go to a friend's house and play a game you have for another system on his system. Very few (if any) games have that many differences graphics-wise. The price is basically all the same when it comes to this situation. It's basically all in the controller.

well for me ist maninly the price. mainly becuse sometimes i can get it used for like a lot less for a specific console so thats when id buy or if i buy new i mainly buy for computer (screw consoles pc's friggen rock) or ps2.

The price isn't too great a difference, but it's still nice to make a saving

It seems the Cube games are always cheaper... Except that sales at Toys'R'Us though... $15 for an Xbox game is awesome.

It all depends on Control.

It seems the Cube games are always cheaper...

That's true. I've no idea why however.

And the funny thing is... the GCN ones are sometimes better then the PS2 and Xbox versions.

Depends.

I only have a GCN out of the current consoles, but here is what I would base my choice on:

I would buy the Xbox verison if it was an online game that I really cared about.

I would buy it on PS2 if....personlly I hate the controller, and I can't think of any really good features to make me want a game for the PS2 thats on the other consoles.

I would buy a GCN verison if it was port (which it seems GCN gets a lot of those) because it seems they add more features. Also, I like the controller the best....it fits my hand size, so I like it.

Yeah, i think the Game Cube Nintendo has better games all together.

The GCN is the DreamCast of today.

If I had all three: XBOX, Gamecube, and PS2 would probably buy all multi-platformers for XBOX.

With regards to gamecube games usually being cheaper.....
I went to game today and I was checking out the new Tony Hawk's game. Rather suprsingly it was more expensive on the 'cube, whereas it's nearly always most expensive on xbox.
Anyway I can't remember why I thought i'd post this but ummm it may intrest someone.
