Replacing the batteries in old games..risky, but can be done

In Hardware

A little while ago I was Hooked on Ultima: Quest Of The Avatar and it died on me. I was so frustrated I ripped the cart apart and found that it was nothing but a common watch battery! A little bit of soldering and gluing and the thing works like the day it came out of the box. You do risk shattering the gray case, though, because of that *%$!ing rivet in the middle. I know nothing about emulators and downloading games to my computer, and I'm sure others have had this problem, so....there it is.

go on ebay and type in "NES drill bit" or "3.8mm bit" and you'll find what you're looking for

EDIT: i just tried "NES drill bit" and nothing showed up, but "3.8 mm bit" works just fine

Thanks for the tip. I have several other battery games that are probably going to die soon; strange that none of the Zelda ones have...

hey no problem!

Yes, the 3.8 is what ya need =)

Well, Nintendo made those suckers real good. They said in the manual they'd last only 5 years, but mine is still running. Those nintendo guys sue are smart.
