Expansion Port

In Hardware

I've heard that the Famicon had various add-ons through the expansion port(Modem, Keyboard, even a Knitting machine, or so I've heard). But did any add-on make it to North America? I haven't heard of any.

To put it simply... No.

I figured as much.

Actually, I know of one peripheral. It didn't make it big time though. It wasn't ported from the Famicom, though.

Also, I think the "Miracle Piano tuner" thing MAY have plugged in there, but to be honest, I can't even remember if it had a NES version.

I own one, but dont have the cable to connect it. My theory is that yes, it does.

I've always assumed it plugged into the special cart, since it also connects to the SNES, and Genesis.

but says something else...

Well, that's interesting, if nothing else. Makes a certain kind of sense, I suppose, since it was used to control games. Where else would you plug a controller?

Anyone have or know of a pinout for this connector?

Thanks.

Maybe you can check out this doc that's on NesDev:

Thats more than enough information to keep me busy for awhile.

Thanks.
