my case mod.

In Hardware

I, basically with my dad last weekend modded an NES, and instead of me taking pics of it, made a little video of what was made. It was too dangerous to film DURING construction, so I did a before and after

Thats awsome. Good job.

by the way, this is just stage 1 with this console. Over the summer I plan a full-blown modded NES (overclocking, lockout disable, all that jazz)

Nice idea to make a video of that.

Cool mod.

i dig it, nice ideas

cant see it at work. bummer

I think thats pretty cool. How do you get different LEDs for the POWer button?

If you look inside the NES board, where the POWer switch is supposed to be, there is a standard LED going into a piece of clear plastic. replace that with a cool color. ( I perfered using yellow, to match my gold top.)

ok, where yould they sell different types? Perhaps radio shack? And you cut off the old LED and solder on the new one?

I happened to have most of this stuff lying around my house. but you can buy all sorts of LEDs at radio shack. yep, thats all you do. but I perfer to just desolder the LED instead of cuttin it off.

btw- the light inside the NES that illuminates the cartridge is a christmas light. very cheap indeed.

Exactly how did you Hook up the christmas light to the NES?

Could the extra amperage required by the light goof things up if the POWer supply can't give the NES and the light enough POWer? Have you noticed anything weird?

well, I'm looking for the tape I made showing that actually, everything is fine with the gameplay.

How I inserted the light.
Note: how we accomplished maximum "lightage", we left the RF sheilding on, but dremmeled off the top, showing the cart through the plexi. so the light reflects of of the unseen sheilding.

1. leaving the top off, I turned on the game system (Hooked up to prevent such problem.) and using the wired up light , my dad looked for a way to tap into the POWer .

2. we found a reliable source, marked by the diagram.

(how we found the source) we tried touching the two wires connected to the light to the two contacts marked in the diagram. thats how we found it.

use the diagram if you want to do what we did.

Nice! I want to try to but Iam afraid I don't know enough about it

not a bad idea having the light POWer coming from before the switch.. dunno if i could be bothered turning it on and off though. anyway, only think that bugs me about the vid is your saying EN EE ESS all the time.. lol.. im not saying it's wrong, just cos it isnt what i say doesnt make it the wrong thing. but everyone i know irl, including myself, just says NES as one word.. it's alot simpler than saying every letter, and it has a more friendly sound to it aswel.

and really, do you say S-N-E-S aswel?
lol, not meaning the offencive here, sorry.. just bugs me.

I also say "en ee es". I think we had a thread for that somewhere...

Look here.

There's also a poll and "en ee es" is in front. You could make it a tie when you vote for "nes".

And I personally say "super en ee es" or "Super Nintendo".

Don't let you bother it too much. People are different, so are their sayings...

after this post ill take it over to the other thread.

i'd say that's true, im australian, and australia is a part of the european market.

Yeah, I'm an excetption. I'm special.
