Hey, total nub here...

In Hardware

Im not really a tech person. at all. and my nes is having some problems, and i don't want to send it in or anything. problem is, i don't know . i don't know how to get the case off, i don't even know what a 72 pin connector is, let alone how to clean it oor purchase a new one, so i cant go about fixing it. if somebody could give me a few pointers, id appreciate it a lot. god knows you guys get enough questions like this.

Follow this.

Instead of replacing it. Just clean it with Windex.

Keep in mind that it isn't as hard as it sounds. I know it sounds kind of intimidating to open up an electronic gizmo that you really have no idea about, but in reality it isn't.

My adVice is that the screws / cover / rf shield etc should be fairly easy to pop off, if it isn't, you're doing something wrong (maybe you forgot a screw).

The 72-pin connector though might require some elbow grease though, mine was stuck on REALLY tightly.

And yeah, that guide looks like it'll tell you everything you need to know.

thanks for the tips. the guide was really uuseful.
