Nintendo DS

In Handhelds

In case you didn't know, here is a list of games available for the DS... if there are any others that you know about, post it here

And here's some games that are being worked on. Some of the launch release games are listed here, too.

It seems they tried to touch bases on all different styles of games. I need to try this system out!

I have a friend that's getting one, with some luck I'll get to check it out on Thursday of next week, so I can report in with my opinion then.

Got one on launch, and am totally in love with it. Own Mario 64 DS and Feel the Magic. Pictochatting is a blast, as well.

How are the controls on it? I haven't even tried one at Wal-Mart's electronics section, yet.

I haven't seen one other than under glass, stupid stores in this area are too cheap to put one out for playing with.

The touch screen for Mario 64 takes a LOT of getting used to. You get good at it, but it's still no analog stick. I think with an analog stick, the DS would be a flawless system. I still can't perform side flips. (Running one direction, move stick in opposite direction and jump). I have never executed one on the screen. You can also play the game using the DPad, but it's EXTREMELY awkward for me.

Feel the Magic uses ONLY the stylus and microphone in a bunch of Wario Ware-style minigames. Control isn't even an issue on that game. It's a blast.

i also own it and its great i own mario 64 ds as well im waiting for the new games

i use the pad its much easier then the touch screen i belive using the stylus and touching is very akward how far on mario ds r u?

Perhaps we should close one DS thread and make it one?

I heard of many people who like the stylus controls, also in Mario. Most people say you just need to get accustomed to it first and then it's very easy.
I really need to try it for myself quickly.

yah but the thing is if u use the stylus u must have one hand on it and then with you're other hand u must hit b to jump which in my opinion is akward but i mean evry has the way theylike to play so i can like argue about it

You don't use the stylus. You use the thumb cap. Works great.

yeah thats what i like as well i like it much more then stylus and it does work great

if you mean the little nub on the strap... that thing sucks, it comes loose too easily and slides off my thumb and stopping to readjust it detracts from the feel, I like to get immersed in a game, and the DS doesn't allow me to do that.

i dont like the thumbstrap either which i dont think hes talking bout (or is he) i just like using the d pad very comfortable

The DS sells like hotcakes in Japan and now Nintendo announced new color variations on their homepage. You might already have heard about it.

The new colors are

White

Black

Pink

Cyan

And the good old silver one

Which do you like best?
What color would you like to have?

I got one last week for my birthday.
It's a nice console/handheld but not many games for it yet. *crosses fingers*
I think one game came out called robots..
But i like the touch screen. Its so cool and easy to use. I am almost finished Super mario 64 ds and i must say its been a blast and im looking forward to a new game release soon. I just want to know where Zelda is!

Oh, I also want one for my birthday.
I'm trying to get a white one.

I also wonder how the DS Zelda will be...

man that Cyan one looks hot! There coming out with a bright green one as wel!

Well, just got back from Champaigne... got me a DS! So far, it seems kind of weird to use the stylus. I'm trying to feel it how to see how I like it. I bought Mario 64 also, so that's the game I tried it out on. I was a little disappointed to find out that the Metroid game that came with it is only a demo. We'll see how it turns out. So far, it's really cool, and has awesome sound.

yeah but the demo shows off some stuff that i havent used on the DS! The demo rocks!

They always advertised it as a demo...

Congrats to your DS, I hope to get one, too.
I want to get Polarium, it seems it's a very good game. Anybody has it already?

polarium.... i havent heard of it lol

I'm not sure if it has the same name in the US. Sometimes they title games completely different.
E.g., "Feel the Magic" is "Project Rub" (how silly??) in Germany and the Japanese title is something like "I would die if it was for you"...

Look here for a description of Polarium. It seems it's the same title in the US.

Wow that is weird! well whats the game about then ill tell you what the US title name is.

It HAS the the same title in the US as in Europe. Here it is already out in the stores. It comes to the US sometime in April it seems.

I read some reviews and it seems the game is really good. And the price is cheap. I'll definitely get it in Japan.

Im thinking i know what it is but aint sure... Ill do some research on it later

I had a dream last night about this exactly!

I'm getting one for Christmas. I also want to get Snowboard Kids DS!

Nintendo DS will get more games I hope because I got mine early.

Sure it will. I looked at the games they are planning/in development, and there like 100+.

I Japan they also bring out dictionaries for the DS.

And an interesting looking software with the title "train your brain. DS training for grown-ups".
