Tetris DS Announced with Online Play!!!!

In Handhelds

Nintendo of America today announced they will release Tetris DS for the Nintendo DS on March 20 and that it will make use of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo's wireless gaming serVice.

There will be six modes of play, each featuring a theme based on a classic Nintendo franchise, such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid. The classic gameplay remains intact, but with some sort of new touch screen interaction, although how exactly the touch screen will work is not yet known

The game will support head-to-head two player action or even wireless battles with up to 10 players, even if only one player has a game card. Players can also hop on the Nitnendo Wi-Fi Connection to compete in two or four-player matches. The game includes a point-based rating system based on players' match results. Players can see one another's ratings and skill levels.

That sounds fun.
If that Tetris is any good and not too expensive (I hope it's not full price) I might think of getting it.
Tetris in a Zelda theme? With Tinkle bombing your blocks away?

That sounds fun.

I've been complaining about the DS puzzle games going for full price for a long time...

Polarium, Meteos, soon Tetris... those games do not deserve to sell for $40, or even $50 CDN, the development time on a puzzle game is next to nothing, the team required is MUCH less than a "real" game, so why should we be expected to pay the full price for 'em? it's just greed, and it just angers me. simplistic puzzle games should have a retail price of $20 CDN. I think that's more represenative of the dev time, and cost to manufacture and still retain a reasonable profit. $50 is just foolish.

It sounds good, and wi fi gameplay would definately be an added bonus. I would buy it if it were available at a discount.

To me, if the game ends up costing $5 or less per hour of quality entertainment I get out of it, it's worth buying. I think I would get more than 8-10 hours out of that game. I think I'll buy it. We'll see.

I second and third that.
Most puzzle games are really too expensive.
But at least in Japan Polarium wasn't a full price title. It sold for 3800Yen as SRP and most of the stores sold it for 2200-2800Yen. And that's fair. I bought it for 2200Yen. (22$)
The brain trainer games in Japan cost 2800 Yen, not full price and that's good.
