Black Review.

BLACK is everything you'd ever want in a shooter if all you ever wanted to do was shoot stuff. It's an extremely focused game that offers one of the most visceral gaming experiences you'll find anywhere. But, it offers little variation outside of blowing things up and its short length and lack of multiplayer will irk some people.

No matter its faults, however, this is a game that everyone really should play through. After going through it ourselves, we can't help but think of the leaps that Criterion made with its Burnout series and are anxious to see if they'll carry over to BLACK as well. If nothing else, BLACK really, really makes us hunger for a sequel.

8.5 Presentation
Great control options, very slick menu system and very cool cinematics.
9.5 Graphics
Fantastic visuals with nearly every effect in the book that's only marred by occasional slow-down.
10 Sound
Amazing sound effects, excellent use of directional audio and fantastic music. Turn it up.
8.5 Gameplay
It's an excellent shooter, full-throttle all the way through, but that's all it is. We can't help but have wanted more, just something to mix up the pacing and tempo.
5.0 Lasting Appeal
Only a half-dozen hours long and no multiplayer. It's worth a second time through, however.
8.7
Great

and I'll post my non-paid-for review on Tuesday, when I pick up my pre-order. Unless EB sucks, and doesn't have it on launch (which is common...)

I hate the whole scoring system. everyone looks at the numbers and decided if the game is good. Rather than reading WHY it got that score.

The reason I'm getting this game is because graphically, it looks like it's easily the best game on current-gen hardware. I love destructible environments. and it looks like the action is totally non-stop.

I think i might pick up the Xbox Version and EB has it for $39 and with my Component Cables it will look sweet.

This game looks so cool.

I'll say. It looks like an out-and-out fun game, that knows what it's doing and sticks to its guns (pun than a straight shooter, and get pretty close, but somehow fall short.

This game seems to know what it wants and knows exactly how to implement it, which makes for a very satisfying game experience. I've never been fond of games that try hard.

I watched the review of 'Black' on G4's "X Play". Guess what? They made it look/sound like a worthless piece of crap!

So it must be good.

That seems to be the general review...

it's a very solid, old-school shooter. graphics are EASILY the best of the current crop of consoles (360 excluded) the sound is amazing. in fact, the ONLY place it falters is that it's so short.

that didnt bug me, i was just dissapointed that it didnt have multiplayer.

I just rented the Xbox Version of Black and so far it's been alot of fun The Destructible Environments are cool and the graphics are excellent.

Looks pretty sweet. Although I won't buy it unless they release it for the PC. I don't own any of the new systems...
