How do you call your Nintendo Entertainment System?

In General Gaming

I want to know: Did you give it a name? (I assume most people don't )

In serious.

Do you call it plain "Nintendo"?
Do you say NES (pronounced like "Ness") or N E S ("en ee es")?

That quite bothers me sometimes.

I say eN eE eS.

It's definitely N - E - S not NES.

Ah... I forgot to reply to this topic when it was first posted.

I'll give examples.

Let's take for instance, NES-Luke. When NES is in front, I pronounce it eN-eE-eS.

Now take EvilNES. When it's in the back, I pronounce it as "ness."

As for my system, it's my eN-eE-eS.

Well, it varies for me... sometimes it's "en ee ess" and sometimes it's "ness"

I say Nes as one word, just like the monster from the Loch. Generally I've found that North Americans tend to say it as the 3 letters N.E.S., whereas Europeans say it as a word NES. Manual seems to be an exception to that rule however!

I say NES like ness, simple, fast and easy to say it.

Now that I think about it, I change the ways I say it, too. I wasn't thinking, but I pronounce your name "ness"-a-holic...

I guess it just matters on what flows.

It really depends. If somebody asks me what my favorite retro system is, I'll say N - E - S. But if I'm inviting a friend over, I'll say "Wanna come over and play some Nintendo?"

When I was growing up, you didn't play "video games", you played "Nintendo". That's just stuck with me, I guess. Of course, I don't refer to all video games as "Nintendo", only when I'm specifically talking about playing some NES Games.

I pronounce NES like .

Or I just call it by its affectionate pet name- "Toasty".

Ah, we did that, too. Let's play Nintendo we said.

But unfortunately nowadays it's become "let's play Playstation". It's not so often "play Nintendo" anymore.

That's a fact. I'm the only twelve year old who plays with NES and GCN in my school.

Welcome to the forums, NES-dude. I hope you like it here.
It's good to see also young gamers don't always appreciate graphic POWer alone. NES rocks.

YAY! I'm not a NES dork anymore!

I prefer to say Nintendo

...

Generally I just say ness. Don't know why, that just always stuck.

Same here.

Nes as one word here..
and the europe vs usa thing seems to be pretty right.. im australian, i dont know anyone who says N-E-S, and australia is in the european market, even if it is not a true european country (monarchy aside).

N E S, even though I spell it as NES.

I say NES. However, back in the good old days, I/my friends used to say (when inviting someone round) "want to come round to play nintendo?" (i.e NES/SNES) or "want to come round the play sega?" (i.e Megadrive) Depends in which context you use it I suppose.....

I call it NES as in Nez and don't know anyone that calls it anything else. Maybe it's an England thing.

I say N.E.S.

Lots of gamers are like that around California. Don't know about where I live now (I moved a week ago)

studies show that if you say "N.E.S." instead of "Ness", by the time you die, those split-second increments will have added up and you'll have wasted 3 months of your life.

half the time i call it the nintendo, the other half i call it the N E S. mostly if people are confused by what i am talking about.

Mostly N.E.S, but sometimes Ness too.

ALL N E S. (Hi guyz, i'm back). That is unless I'm talking to my friends or family, I just say Nintendo then. I call SNES ess ness also. Or when I'm not thinking sometimes I say ness... You know I don't like people that say nintendo though when they're talking about it. Also it bothers me when people call PS2 playstation. They probably never even heard of PSX. At least some.

For some reason, when I am referring to the old school Nintendo I say "Regular Nintendo". Why, I don't know.

I call it the nintendo, but sometimes as "toubabokoomi" does I'll call it original nintendo or such.
