Misleading Games?

In Games

Have you ever just looked at a game and thought "that has to be the funnest game ever" but then when you play it it is either way boring or too complicated to figure out?

Yup, Wolverine for NES. Saw the cover thinking it would be good but played the game and it is PURE UTTER CRAP.

That's kinda like me with Kings Quest V for NES. When I first knew it was for NES I was like WOW Kings Quest V THAT OLD GAME THAT I USED TO PLAY A LOT WHEN I WAS YOUNG!!!! For NES? But when I tried the NES ROM of it, it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I mean it is NES graphics what can I expect? I was so used to those old PC graphics. VERY BEAUTIFUL GRAPHICS FOR PC BY THE WAY, try it.

I always wondered, is Kings Quest V on pc better?

The entire NES library is filled with games sounding cool but end up being crap. Like "totally rad", "ninja crusaders", or "Kid Niki: the radical ninja".
Actually Kid Niki isn't bad..

Trog! was my biggest dissapointment I wanted something like Bonk or Adv. Island.

Aw, I liked Trog. It had a kind of stupid, fun mentality about it. When I was younger, I'd play on the multiplayer for hours with my cousin. (granted, we were easily amused. We'd also spend hours playing tag on Super Marios Bros' multiplayer)

My most recent disappointment would be Bounty Hunter for PS2. It was fun, but the entire game was "Okay, now what?"

But my BIGGEST disappointment would have to be Jaws for NES. I was convinced it would be a really fun, rpg/action-type thing, but it turned out to be one of the most boring thing I've ever played (besides ET for atari).

Wow, I hate most NES Games to tell you the truth. But there's some I plain LOVE.

i like ninja crusaders on nes. I remember playing it back in the day and everything. Top Gun also dissapointed me.

I thought Road Fighter was good, but... I was wrong and disappointed.

Ugh, ANOTHER ONE!
...

I originally thought this thread was about games that have misleading "titles" like 'Mr. Driller' or 'Woody Pop' (I couldn't imagine what those were going to be about). Instead, it seems to be about games that didn't live up to their expectations.
I'll just mention 'Final Fantasy Tactics' and 'Conker's Bad Fur Day' again.

But back on the subject of "misleading titles", how about any one of those Sega Master System sports games that have the word "Great" in their name.

Touche. Well, the most misleading title I ever got was Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I kind of liked it, but I was NOT expecting a sidescroller/rpg hybrid. I was expecting Zelda. With new weapons.

Not so much a misleading title, but the most misleading advert I ever saw was for Action 52, which promised "a new game every week for a whole year". The only way I can imagine someone actually playing Action 52 for a year is if it was being used as an implement of torture.

Yup
- Mercenaries (Xbox)
- Ultima Exodus III (NES)
- Superman 64
- Quest 64
- Mischeif Makers (N64)

I agree, even though I still liked Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, it was not one of my favs.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was the first Zelda I ever played so it was the others that seemed different to me.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link was for me the first Zelda game I played too.

And I don't think that Totally Rad is bad.

Bubble Bath Babes, Peek a boo Poker and Hot Slots come to mind.

What are you talking about?! The hot babes those games promise don't fail to deliver!

must of missed them. plus gameplay was horrible.

Oh yeah, the gamepaly was horrible, but who needs gameplay when you have 8-bit porn! The downside is you have to actually play the game to get that far and it will set you back a few hundred bucks if you want the original carts. But hey, isn't she worth it:

Thank GOD for NES ROMs...but I never use them...lol.
