Suito homu/sweet home: Chicken or the egg?

In Games

Yes, this game actually takes the pixelated cake in scariness. I have obtained alot of info on this game for the 4 people out there who don't know.

there was a movie released hand in hand with the game. It is unkown which came first. What further complicates this is that the only trailer I found is a "see the movie/play the game" trailer.

The previous link I had for the trailer is unavailable, but I do have the trailer on my compy at home, so if you want the said commercial, PM me.

How big is that commercial? Is it small enough to send it by mail?

I imagine so, since he invited people to PM him
(which I will be doing, pronto).

I'm gathering an e-mail list. when it hit's 10 people, I'll do a mass e-mail.
BTW, It's around 3 MB, and It is a Realplayer Format

Sorry if this inconvieniences you, cuz its the ONLY one I can find.
It took me at least a year to find some physical SH video.

meanwhile I got some pics of the movie from various websites, and Photobucketed them so they WONT Dissappear.

Dun Dun DUN!

uhhh... I dont get it. Vaccum chick, perhaps?

the famous Incinerator scene.

Army of Darknessish!

the VHS Box.

to obtain the movie, if you're interrested you can get it on VSOM.com, a legal, Legitamate video copy site, you can get it for about 25 USD.

I'd just like to see the preview, out of curiosity. I have no desire to own the movie, maybe rent it, though. I saw a review of it, and it supposedly has nothing to do with the game's plot. Apparently, it was the Japanese version of Poltergeist.

...

do they have a subtitled version?

Hmmm very intresting. I dont mind RealPlayer format much really. I might have to check into this.

Sent PM! This game is cool, i wish i owned a cart with the translation patch. I remember a guy selling NES ROMs on cart but it was very expensive

I have the NES ROM with English patch, and I think I got it off

I think I have the NES ROM somewhere too, but it would be so much cooler to have the cart

I managed to get a hold of it a while ago, but it's in Japanese, so I can't play it.

That would still be great to have. I remember playing it with my GF on a stormy night. It was fun to watch her get scared.

This just in: You gan get a custom SH cart with the Gaijin translation.
look here:

That´s the guy I mentioned before, but he is extremely expensive, I'd try my luck with an EPROM writer and sacrificing a cart, but I just can't find any complete info on that.

How many people have emailed you so far, Evil?

only 5 or 6, I'm waiting for more, and I hope to show you this peice of uber coolness.

sounds cool, i'm in.

THREAD BUMP!!!!
I've finally got the compy in my room in order so, I trasferred everything to my master computer, and sent to the people on my list. I'm starting a second maillist if anyone's interested.

"SUITO HOMU: ZA FAMICOMU!"

Hey Evil, did you get my PM or e-mail? I can't remember which one I did.

I dont think you sent me either, but I did send you the trailer.

hmmm... I thought I did.

Alright, thanks

Hello all.

Sorry for the obvious bumping but since I'm working on modern day japanese ghost movies (for a Master degree of cinema) I'm very interested by this trailer you've been talking about soooo long ago

So if someone can help me that would be just fine ... and I'll add him/her to the "special thanx" section of my "file"

Thanx , Darkmore

I remember when I first played this game, at one point a zombie or something pops up out of nowhere, I jumped a little. I never thought I'd be scared by something like an NES game.

Unless you count me being afraid as a kid of those 'unkillable enemies' that pop up in some games when the timer runs out. I was really scared of those as a little kid, it's actually pretty funny.

Well I have to say I'm not much interested by the game itself anyway
what I'm looking for is the trailer for the Movie

Hey Evil, I just saw the vid... Awesoime! Thanks for the e-mail for sure man... I want to check out that game now!

*THREAD BUMP AGAIN*
Just wondering what people thought of the trailer, and if people need anything out of the way (like what is (blank), etc)I'm happy to oblige.

$30 a game extremely expensive? And he gives them all professional looking labels. You could probably get him to use the label from the VHS cover.

I know maybe most people already know this, but from various NES ROM sites such as NES ROMnation.net, you can get a NES ROM of the Sweet Home video game in English. I have it, so if anyone is interested you can PM me. It's small so I can email it easily. Thanks

Well id definitely like to see the trailer! So im sending you a PM EvilNES!

Is there any reason you don't just dump that trailer on a website someplace and point us to it?

Hey, I ran into this place while looking for a movie poster of Sweet Home, and thought I'd stop in to share what I know.

I've seen the movie. It's more cheesy than scary, and tends to not make any sense, especially since the game is so much clearer on a lot of things. Mamiya's motives were altered for the movie. The premise behind it is the same, but the reason she's awake is totally different, and the movie's version of it makes absolutely no sense.

Though it makes it crystal clear that Emi is Kazuo's daughter, it suggests that Taguchi (Taro to most of you) and Asuka are husband and wife, but never flat out tells you one way or the other. One scene depicts Taguchi helping Asuka wash her hair.

A site with a review says that "one by one, the members of the team start dying gruesome deaths". I'm not sure what this means. Only two of them die, and within about five minutes of each other (depending on when you consider the first one dead; after losing their midsection to a shadow and starts crawling after one of the others, or after the other beats their head in with a wrench).

Here's a site with the trailer:

And some assorted screens I've taken off the DVD:

Emi didn't need to slap him for that one. Asuka hit him a few seconds later.

The Memorial Tower is located in some woods rather than in the middle of a lake.

Hey guys! Looky what I found!

Some of the dialogue comes across as unintentionally funny.

The woman wearing the gas mask is indeed Asuka. She's about to clean the dust off the first fresco.

As for which was the original, I'd honestly say the game. The game and movie share many of the same scenes, but they tend to feel really forced in the movie. Like Yamamura's death. In the game, it flowed well. In the movie, it feels like the script writers to shove it in there somehow, logic optional.

If you don't want to pay the $25 for the movie, and considering what it's like I don't recommend it unless you're a serious fan of the movie, I'm writing a summary/rant about it for my site (). Hopefully I'll have it done soon, so check there in about two weeks.
