Dragon Warrior Monsters

In Dragon Warrior

Man, I actually thought this game was going to be pretty horrible when you proposed trying it out, Uber Newb... I actually had to pull myself away from it I started this thread so as not to highjack the thread about the first DW.

Basically, you're a Monster Master, which means you get to collect different monsters that you battle and use them as your party. You can have up to three monsters in your party at one time, and a host of others at the monster farm in the main castle (the game is centered around this castle). So far it seems that you battle in these arenas and try to win in order to move on to the next arena. When you win a battle in a tournament, you unlock more quests that you can go on to find more monsters, and do little "missions" if you will, which also aid in leveling up your party. That's about the jist of it, and I couldn't help but love the fact that I had a Bubblin' Booby (slime) in my party ! The different monsters have different abilities that they learn as they level up, and you can have them fight in different styles during the battles... one way makes them brave, another smart, and another helpful to others.

I haven't played a gob of it yet, but I didn't really want to quit playing after I played just the little bit that I had. I just got a dragon in my party, so I'm pretty psyched! It seems like a pretty cool game overall, so I also recommend this game. Thanks for the tip-off on that game, Ube.

i got DW Monsters 2: Cobi's Journey if anyones interested in it PM me. it's cart only.

No problem, Roth. I'm glad someone else liked it. I got it as a gift, and was completely blown away. A word to the wise; Be very, careful about breeding. You need to be calculated about it, and make sure to document the process. Things get very confusing later on... the amount of monsters is astronomical. The breeding is addicting, as each parent will "hand down" their skills to future generations, skills that the monster normally may not have had...

Gah, I want to just drone on and on about it. I've never quite worked up the nerve to restart it, since my game was completely erased once I was pretty damn far into the game... I had a seventh-generation uber-l337 monster, too... But talking about it has got my blood up...

Make sure you visit the library a lot, and note what monster combos you have and don't have, and what combos produce what monsters.

EDIT: Oh! And don't use meat on bosses. Either they'll join you, or they won't. The game doesn't tell you this until later on, right after I had used a hell of a lot on a boss you don't get... Sufficient to say I was pissed.

There is boss that can be convinced with a specific amount of specific types of meat, but it's a damn hard fight.

im getting one of these.

ROTH, DON'T BREED THE BLUE SLIME UNTIL LATER ON. KEEP HIM.

Sorry. Had to tell you that...
