Holy Grail...

In Collecting

Do any of you personally have a Holy Grail with your collecting? What I mean is, is there one, practically unreachable item that you would do anything to get a hold of?

my rareist gameing item would have to be my "Verital Boy" with that mario Tennis game but i would kill to have a differnt game for that..... but anyways thats my "HOLY GRAIL"

The one thing that I would do anything to get a hold of would have to be a sit-down Sinistar arcade console. That would be so unbelievably awesome.

Of course, not that many were made, and they're too expensive for me to afford in a million years, but still...

i'd love to have House Of The Dead 3 arcade pod but right now i don't any money i can spare.....saving up for a car

Bubble Bath Babes.

I think it's actually a fun game, plus you get 8-bit porn Ha! Seriously though, if that didn't go for as much as it does, I would've gotten my hands on it a LONG time ago. One night I played some via emu (of course, not having it and all), and was actually having a blast with it. The shapes of the bubbles makes it tough to get matches, but not impossible. I can't remember how far I got, but far enough into it that I started enjoying it for the challenge.

I saw one on eBay recently as a Buy-It-Now, but it was listed at around $500-$600 USD. I really wish I had money to throw away, because that is what I look at as my "Holy Grail" for collecting.

Another set items that I would love to have in my collection would be all of the unlicensed Tengen games. There was somebody on DigitPress recently who posted pics of his complete collection of Tengen games. He still needed some boxes and manuals, but that's not the kind of thing I'm personally after... just the games for me

I've liked all the Tengen games I've played so far. Vindicators, Rolling Thunder, After Burner, etc. They're really high quality games. Too bad they were sneaky about the lock-out chip thing, because I think they may have developed even more games... even if under a subsidiary or two (Konami's Ultra was pretty awesome, remember ). So that's the other, more reachable "Holy Grail" for me. All of the Tengen games.

The thing I'd most like to have is probably a Simpsons arcade cab. The 4 player one with all the artwork down the sides. That would be excellent smithers.

Well i guess for me it would be getting every AVE Cart ever made.

I know this is probably not really rare comparded to a rare NES game, but I'd love to get a hold of a ClayFighter Sculpors Cut Box and Intructions.

The Flintstones Surprise at Dinosaur Peak i've had this game before but i would like to get it complete.

Apart from one of those super rare omg l@@k mario/Duckhunt carts that are on Ebay (so hard to come by) it would be a PacMan arcade cabinet.

a Complete, Every Contra and Castlevania Game out there, + the ol' Gradius's

But thats just for some Konami Kinda things

i could get a Virtual Boy with box and a few games(like Mario Tennis, Wario Land (i think it was) and i think some other one too.)

That Kinda sickens me.

I talking Draculas Curse, Simons Quest and stuff. SoTN, the crappy Reg Game boy ones.

I already have 64 complete anyway.

I did enjoy the N64 game more than the other ones. Anyways, I'd love to get Flinstones II too because my ne friend really wants it, and would make a great present.

That Kinda sickens me.

.

I'd like to have the first Famicom ever produced, the prototype that was shown to the public back then.
That would be cool to have, but, quite unreachable.

I think that is my Holy Grail.

The holy grail for me would be a SMB prototype. I wonder if there is any differences between the released version and the proto version. Even if not, it'd still be cool

A gold or grey copy of a NWC cartridge is actually nicknamed "The Holy Grail of Game Collecting". I wouldn't actually want one (unless it was free), I'm just stating an interesting point that has to do with the topic.

I'd love Marvel vs. Capcom 2 arcade machine, Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesIV: Turtles in Time arcade machine, or The Simpsons arcade machine... those are my 3 biggest rare wants

Really? Huh.

a gold or even gray NWC cart

an unreleased and undumped prototype would be awesome too!

That Kinda sickens me.

.

there is no C64 Castlevania, he was talking about the N64 one

Yeah so was I buddy.
Castlevania 64
C64
DUH.

you know what... shut up

Really I would take any rare or semi-rare game or console but I think that a Cruisin USA\World\Exotica or RUSH arcade racing machine would be the BEST.

i would reallly like have a pinball machine in my house

The holy grail I want is not a game, but an accessory...a complete new in box NES Hands Free Controller...

there was one on the German eBay a month and a half ago (US version even), nicely hidden until somebody posted a link on DP, so it ended up selling for nearly 300 dollars!!

You're bs'ing me right?!?!? How much is it worth out of the box? (I think I still have mine, if my mom didn't dispose of it).

GI Joe: Real American Hero
and
Mighty Final Fight

I think those were the last few game I've.
I've received several hand me down packages since then.

Well unreachable is nothing really, only if your into unrealesed proto collecting only then you might have some real problems.
Anyways my untimate Goal is collect the rares first, the testcarts and along the way demo's proto's and ofcorse complete games too.

My holy grail would be to get all the NES test equipment. I have mostly there, but I still new 2 more test carts to have everything. ROB/Zapper, and the Duckhunt one. I am so facisnated about the test stuff for some reason, even though it really isn't that exciting.

Are you sure that it's the NES hands free controller? There is also an accessory called the U-Force that many refer to as a hands free controller, which is not that rare. If you do have the official NES Hands Free controller for disabled children, I might be interested

He, he, did you use the "Holy Grail" thing because you like British humour? As for the question, yeah, I'd like to get more than just one item. I once owned a PAL version of a cartridge for the NES called "Snake's Revenge." I'd like to get that back.

The other NES (PAL version) games I'd like to get my hands on would be:

1. Super Mario Bros. 2.

2. North & South.

3. Chip'n'Dale - Rescue Rangers

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and 3.

5. Ikari Warriors 2 and 3.

6. Déjà Vu.

I guess that's all for now...

North and south is awesome.

Yeah, tell me about it. It's one of the best NES Games I've ever played. It's really entertaining, especially if you play it with some friends.

North and South rocks!

My most prized games:

Bionic Commando (it may not be rare but still...)

Not NES, but worth mention.
Earthbound game and original Strategy Guide: They came together in one big box. It only cost me $14.95 when I found it.

Me too as well as Super Metroid.

i have both but still.

You know, I've been thinking of my wish for a sit down Sinistar machine... much to my chagrin, it occured to me that I would gladly trade an opportunity at that in exchange for a Virtual On machine, or LA Guns.

Old school gamer, my ass.

I would personally like to own a working Night Slashers cabinet. I played this game years ago and had a total blast with it. Sadly, it's but a memory now. Hell, I'd settle for a working MAME NES ROM. I'm sure I have more items I would consider "Holy Grails", but that's all I cna think of right now.

Bubble Bath Babes.

I think it's actually a fun game, plus you get 8-bit porn

AMEN.

Okay, I'm a complete idiot, but here's my "Holy Grail"

A sealed Stack-Up and a sealed Tengen Tetris.

There, I said it....

Lots of people would like to have that I could imagine.

I got the NES ROM of this myself a couple of days ago. You're right...who would have thought that a Holy Grail would be so addicting & difficult?
I'd rate this one just a little less difficult than Klax. A friend and I were playing Klax last night for over two hours...our brains were reduced to tapioca.

There, I said it....

A Canadian collector sold a complete yet not sealed Stack-up for $660 U.S. I believe it was.

Here are a few pics of my Holy Grail's:

Ah.. um. eugh *fumbles over words* thats fricking amazing Donut!

well I'd always want as a holy grail A Chojin Sentai Jetman, and a Kyoryuu Sentai Zyuranger cart (I'm a sucker for tokusatsu)

glad you like

Hmm..Broderbund U-Force. Don't have the test cart, but they made several interesting games. I'll have to go NES ROM hunting for that one.
Nice new avatar, EvilNES. Mystery Science Theater PWNS.
I can't believe I've started using ^that^ computer venacular...

I'm afraid you lost two of my respect points for using the word "Pwn", but since you like my av, I'll give you three. ^__^ LOL OMGWTF!

Heh. My fingers were hovering over the keyboard wondering if I should even use it or not, I've been putting it off for weeks.
Downloaded U-Force Test Cartridge NES ROM--for those of you who are curious,
Don't bother.

You can regain the word's L337-ness by reverting it back to it's original state, 'p ownage'.

Also, "Newbie" is no longer a hip word, as the mainstream has officially caught on. I'm afraid the third "Bring It On" movie uses it to horrifically lame effect. Which is worrisome, as my usage of "Newb" rather than nub or n00b, which once was a pro-literacy/intelligence statement, is now dangerously close to mainstream usage.

And now you know what a test cartridge is.

didnt get the Uforce for fun, i got it for its rarity....

also test carts are cool, and neat for the collection

But, there you have it--at least you put some thought into the way you spelled it, rather than just writing "n00b" like everyone else.
And the "Uber" part conjoined with "Newb" makes you think, too, so it's still, in my opinion, at least, a good username.

Yeah...that was one of the most exciting games I've ever played in my life!! Lol, etc.

A twin arcade cabinet of Daytona USA 2....or Sega's Super Gt also twin cabinet...I also always wanted the Aliens arcade cab by Konami...

This is what I would call my "true" holy grail.

Nice. If you have a good job 1500$ should be affordable.

Thing is....I don't. Man, but once I get one, that will be mine.

would have to be everyones wet dream. If not for the cartridge, you could always sell it for the $$$.

^That game belongs to a memeber on digitpress. Hope he gets a good deal.
