Spring Cleaning

In Announcements

I've recieved MANY complaints about the current state of the forums, so some 'cleaning' is going to happen.

For one week I'm imposing a zero tolerance policy on one line/useless posts.

if you have nothing to add to the conversation, DO NOT POST. This includes useless sections of posts.

"yay i dont know" for example.

You may also notice several posts/threads disappearing or becoming locked.

Punishments will be decided on an individual basis.

I also request that if you do end up with revoked privledges/temporary ban during this period that you remain calm and mature. As we saw with toubab... yeah, him... being an idiot doesn't help your case.

Upon completion of punishments, an additional one week of "probation" will be in effect. during which time similar rules as this week will apply, but only for the violators.

"yay i dont know" for example.

Thanks, and anyways once again, it wouldn't have mattered if i had left it out.

Now it will, leave it out and you won't get banned

Useless as in, how? Unneccessary chatter? Odd anecdotes? Irritating comments/gimmicks? Obnoxious behavior?

'Cause if it's all of the above, I'm busted.

Well. I guess that's me done here. I'm pure useless posts. Ahh well.

No you aren't! How about that solo white mage topic? and all the other things you've contributed?

I agree with luke 100% on this one, The mods here really know what they are doing compared to , lets say IGN for example..and about every other forum ive been to.

The usercount will be dropping quite drastically, as I'm cleaning out all of the old users with zero posts. We're already back below 800, and I've only gone through the first 6 pages of the member list.

So far it seems more than 1/3 of the registered users have never made a post.

I'll also state that I'm open to suggestions as to anything you guys think should be reviewed. Let's try to get this place back on track.

The only thing I can think of right now is to compile all the duplicate posts into one main post i.e. "Post Your Picture" and "Yourself Yay," or whatever that latter one is, are the same thing. There's several of these instances on the forums and I'm probably guilty of it myself.

You mean, like... double posts? I didn't quite get all o' that.

Personally, the only thing that bugged me about the forums was all of the spam accounts. Since you're already taking care of that, well, I've got no complaints.

And, even though I didn't notice the problem before any action was taken, I think it's only fair to mention that the forums noticeably cleaner-looking since the avi sizes were decreased.

Err...I meant double-topics.
It might also be helpful, and I'll use the same example, for the authors of certain topics to go back and edit the titles so they're more understandable, so 'what goes where' will be easier.
i.e.: Your self Yayy (???)
Post Your Picture (ahh, much better).

Ive always wondered why some people would registure but yet never post in the forums? Because otherwise whats the point.

Perhaps because you need to be registered in the forum to submit reviews for games on the home page.

When you register you can put links on your profile page. They use the links to sell their stuff and get their google page rank up and-so-forth...

This is why I registered back in 2002; I was new to the Internet and didn't even know what forums were back then. Some of my opinions have changed on some of those games I reviewed, though (my review of Karnov should have been filled with more worship, etc.)

Well, all zero post users have now been deleted (excluding those who registered in the past month) and the usercount is now at 565.

Sadly, of those 565, 464 have not logged in within the past 60 days.
