2000 posts!

In Announcements

This is the 2000th post for the forums! It started only 1.5 months ago on 11/26/2004, and we're having great success. We're getting over 100 new posts a day recently! Keep up the good work, everyone!

yeah, I've been amazed by the growth lately as well. it's a great place here.

You've a good job, good thing you've cleaned it up and made it mucho mucho better.

Yeah, I've checked out all the other NES forums I can find on the web in the past two days, and this is definately the most active! I like the people here, too! Very helpful board! You must have been promoting like a champ!

Tell all the folk in those other forums to come here! Or not, of course-- based on those board's policies...

The NES Files itself gets a lot of traffic. I'm not privy to all NES site's webstats, but based on the ones I've seen, I'd venture to guess it's in the top 10 for NES-specific sites on the web(# of unique visitors). Everyone who goes to The NES Files sees "forums" on the left, as well as the 10 most recent topics on the right-- that draws 'em in... Not to mention google searches based on the content here...

I'll see what I can do.

I've come across this NES files on google several times while searching for NES info (often by my own posts )

I've had the same experience! I was reading the Google listings, and go, "Hey, that sounds familiar!" Pretty cool. This site comes up ALOT on Google!

the forums are packed with info, I think we need to add some of this to the main page and broaden out a bit, have a hardware section on the front page as well as games. we could have photos of the various consoles (NES, top loader, Famicom, FC Disk System, Famiclones) tech specs. all kinds of things. I know that there isn't much draw on the main page for me, I pretty much just cone straight to the forums.

That sounds like a great idea! Also, maybe a peripherals kind of page, too! Good thought, dude!

I think I accidently found this place but it seems to making me alot happier when im online. I like to see what over people write and stuff. Keep up the good work

Good! I love this place, too! I'm supposed to be the grumpy grandpa, but I usually encourage everyone to stick around!

Congratulations to us all.

Let's do our best.

Oh,... about the photos of my Twin-Famicom. I forgot it yesterday, so I'll do it today.
We should really make a hardware section. Sounds good.

Very true, it's the same way i found the forums, google is the shizznit.

although i just started today im falling in love with this forum its great

That's good to hear (read).

Now we're already aiming straight forward to 3000 posts... or let's better make the next "postiversary" on 5000 posts?

5000 sounds good shouldnt take too long lol considering new people are joining aka me lol

Yes, I think 5000 will be here sooner than we might think.

yeah considering theres what 4 great posters u the moderator and the other 2 great ones who come on here evryday plus me who will hopefully be helping its a good Goal not to close not to far away and will be achieved

Our two great posters. Yes, Roth and Luke do a lot for the good of this site.

And there are practically no spam posts.
I was in another forum for the Gamecube and there were people who made posts consisting of one word, like "cool", or "me too" (ok, two worders were there, too ).
This made some threads really hard to read.

The NES-Files are still very clean and good, with fruitful quality discussions.

And hopefully it stays that way. NES-Luke, Derek, and myself are trying to keep the spam down if we can. Everybody just keep putting up great posts, and it will stay the way it is now! Good job!

I think it will stay this way.
Because it's a NES forum and not a forum about a mainstream thing, not so many people will come to spam around here.

They will likely go to some XBox2 or PS3 and Nintendo Revolution (or how it will be named... Nintendo is the only one who doesn't "count" their console releases...) forum and start flame wars there.

For our good.

Amen.

yeah that i do agree with most forums ive been on its all spam spam spam ok paragraph spam spam spam.... so annoying..... sometimes i look at posts here and see that i cant say nothing more then a sentence so i just decide not to post

And that's the way it should be... If there's nothing constructive to add, don't feel as if you have to post. That's when the whole spam thing starts to take hold. A comment every now and then is refreshing, but too much can lead the way for alot of patch work.

Oh, we already crossed the 3000 post line.

yeah i noticed that a bit ago now watch before u realize it well be passed 4000

i was on here back in 1999, or was it 2000... anyway, there was a totally different gang of people

(me, my name was cameron smith, bob mgee, steve puke, dean carpenter, etc...)

but it wasnt always like this kind of forum, it was a lot different back then. now that i re-signed up, i've been posting WAY more than i used to.

i went from 60 posts to 114 in a matter of 2 days (thats a lot for me, because my computer sucks)

yay nesfiles!!!!

So wasn't it so good back then?
I'd like to have a look on the old forums...

I wonder how it was before, also. No matter how many forums I visit, it seems that this one has the most knowledge on it. I think that's why I like this place, and continue to make it a dailly (sometimes tri-daily) visit. Enjoyable, to say the least!

We should rename the thread.

Congratulations to us all.

Yea this place is fairly active, I like this place because of that, also I found this place via Yahoo search for Faxanadu. I was playing it and I decided I wanted to make a fan site for it, I checked the search engine, I only found 1 other site involving guides so I figured what the heck. Also, when I first registured here (the sitenot the forums), I used it just to submit my site for more hits. MY first impression of the first forums was

Also if you type NES on Yahoo search, this is the 9th site listed

Sorry for the 3rd reply in a row, how come this forum does not have the EDIT ability? Anyway, you guies talk about ho you want more activity, I will see if I can get some ppl to come here, also, Get ready for the summer rush too. It happens at all known forums, many ppl come during the summer when its vacation time and stuff.

There's an edit button in the top right hand corner of your posts, next to "quote".

Just a minute, the edit button seems to have disappeared! Hopefully not for long.

Oops, me triple posting too. I See what you mean now, it's only the announcements forum you can't edit in. Never realised that before.

kind of strange

Champagne... is orange juice ok?

Ok, cu in some months.

The Summer Rush is coming, I hope we get a lot of new active members.

We just crossed the 6000 post line.
This place is growing and growing. In a positive way I think.

Congrats to us all.

Now we're at 7000 posts and over 200 members already.

I can't wait til the summer when this place becomes more popular.

I just hope derik uploads the avatars I gave him.

Also I checked and 116/ the 203 membrs have atleast 1 post

well im back people so hopefully i can help some more on reachign 10,000!

Where were you so long?
Vacation?

Thats cool, plus it will show the forums are active.

Crack the champagne open!

We reached the magical 10k!

Love to see the forum as it grows in a postive way. This is the only forum where i even post usually. Hope it stays great like it is.

and we have 370 members! I remember when we just got around 200 at one point.

Almost 400 users . I always see a lot of guests online, so maybe they'll join soon.

Usually they are spiders sent by google. Google sends internet spiders so they can get updated info for google on how that site is doing. Have you ever pressed the cashe button when searching through google or yahoo? Thats wht the spiders help google update, the cache version of a site

I remember when we got 20

Me, too. I started to read the forums when there were about 20 members. I signed up as number 41 when I remember right.

I'm 117

I think I'm 240, and I just relized that we are a little over 600 users now. The board is building up.

This post was made around a month ago and we doubled our membership population, in a month!

I told you the Summer Rush would hit us!

How come right now, it says only 380 something. A couple days ago, it was in the 600 hundereds.

It looks like Derek cleaned it up. All users who joined and didn't post just to put a www in their profile were deleted it would seem. General clean-up, I presume

Well, it takes half of the users out, but quality is better than quantity.

Especially when those 'users' don't actually 'use.'

I notice we still have a lot of 0 post users.

maybe anyone with 0 posts who hasn't logged in within the past... two months should be deleted.

Well, I had found a mod for Derek. I'm not sure if he applied it or not. I guess we'll see. He told me that it's a heck of alotta work to go through and delete each one. I guess you can't just do a mass deletion. At least alot is cleaned up though.

Anyway, I think it was a great idea to use a member sweep. The 0 post count users are just usually other Google Spiders or freeloaders who look around for NES News or for NES images or NES help

hahaha

No... mod is short for modification. A way of altering the code to make the forum do what you want.. you know, special things. Don't worry _NrG_!

Yea Nrg, you'll become a MOD soon. Anyways, we are at 431 now! (users)

Yay! I got 500 posts, and I'm a Lakitu. *cool voice* "O yea!"

Edit: Wow, in 9 days, I got 100 posts. *cooler voice* "O yea, its Duff Man"

Damn! You passed me! Grr, curse family and foot ball

lol NrG. Anyways, we got a little over 500 users now.
